NEW NAME FOR MYOPIA MANAGEMENT

We are excited to announce an important update to our myopia management solution: Lumi Kids! Rest assured, the proven lens design you trust remains exactly the same.

Lumi Kids lenses continue to offer groundbreaking results backed by a robust clinical trial conducted by Universidad Europea de Madrid.

After 24 months, Lumi Kids lenses demonstrated a 29% slower myopia progression compared to standard single-vision lenses. While second-year results typically decrease across all myopia treatments, Lumi Kids remains highly effective – each diopter controlled significantly reduces a child's risk of future eye diseases such as myopic maculopathy (a major cause of irreversible vision loss).

IMPORTANT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Clinically Proven Efficacy: 41% lower axial length progression compared to untreated non-Asian children in the same age group.
  • Quality Comparable to Leading Competitors: Lumi Kids performs on par or better compared to other established myopia management lenses.
  • Enhanced Flexibility for Your Customers: Four indexes and wider lens options including clear and Sun protection options – polarized and photochromic materials.
  • Attractive Pricing: Same high quality as competitors at a significantly better value.

Lumi Kids CLINICAL STUDY

Lumi Kids has been tested in a clinical trial led by the Universidad Europea de Madrid, involving children from across Europe (clinical trial NCT05250206). This study followed the guidelines set by the International Myopia Institute1.

The main goal of the study was to see how well Lumi Kids helps slow down the growth of the eyeball (axial length) in children with myopia. Since sticking to the treatment is key, the comfort and wearability of the lenses were also carefully looked at. The study involved two groups of myopic children: one group wore regular single-vision lenses, while the other group wore Lumi Kids lenses, over a 24-month period.

The study found that Lumi Kids helps slow myopia progression more effectively than standard single-vision lenses. Specifically, after 12 months, axial length growth was 39% slower with Lumi Kids lenses, and after 24 months, it was 29% slower compared to using standard single-vision lenses.

FREE-FORM TECHNOLOGY

Free-Form Technology is an advanced innovation designed to slow the progression of axial elongation in children’s eyes. It works by incorporating asymmetric positive defocus on the back surface of the lens, precisely calibrated to match the natural asymmetry of the retina. This ensures that light is properly focused on the retinal plane, helping to control ocular elongation and slow down myopia progression.

The design features two distinct zones. At the center, a 7mm diameter clear visual zone with an elliptical shape enhances vision along the vertical axis. Surrounding this, the myopia treatment zone incorporates asymmetric peripheral defocus, strategically calibrated at +1.80D and +1.50D in the temporal and nasal areas, and +2.00D at the bottom of the lens. These precisely designed zones ensure an optimal visual experience while effectively managing myopia progression.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Retinal Asymmetry. Asymmetric positive defocus is calibrated according to the retina’s natural asymmetry.
  • Greatly Reduced Axial Growth. Decreases ocular elongation progress by as much as 39% after 12 months, and a further 29% after 24 months, compared to standard single-vision lenses.
  • Peripheral Hyperopic Defocus. Progressive power gradually and evenly increases, starting from the edge of the foveal vision area and extending to the edge of the lens, effectively managing myopia progression.
  • Elliptical Clear Vision Field. Lumi Kids feature a 7mm central vision zone that provides clear and sharp visuals.

EACH DIOPTER MATTERS

By 2050, half of the world’s population is expected to be myopic, with nearly 1 billion people at a significantly higher risk of permanent blindness. This growing concern is largely due to myopic maculopathy—the leading cause of irreversible vision loss worldwide.

Research shows that for every 1-diopter increase in myopia, the risk of developing myopic maculopathy rises by 67%.2 Given these risks, effective myopia management is essential to slow its progression and reduce the likelihood of severe, sight-threatening complications.

We are committed to dispelling any misconceptions – Lumi Kids is not just a competitive choice, but an optimal solution for managing childhood myopia effectively and affordably.
