The history of “BOD LENSES” is closely linked to the philosophy and development of the BOD Group, which began in the autumn of 1998, when “Garsų studija” was founded in Vilnius. After half a year, the first “Baltic Optical Disc” factory of industrially recorded CDs in the Baltics was opened.


The BOD Group is the largest producer of CD, DVD, and Blu-ray Disc CDs in the Baltic States, and one of the most advanced groups of companies in Central and Eastern Europe. The annual capacity of BOD Group plants in Vilnius (UAB BRD) and Tallinn (AS Baltic Disc) is more than 70 million CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray Disc CDs. 85% of production is exported to nearly 40 European and Scandinavian countries. Since autumn 2013, the BOD Group has engaged in a new business – the production of solar cells and solar modules. In spring 2014, it launched the most modern production line of solar modules (BIPV) integrated in buildings. The factory in Vilnius can annually generate production capacity for 80 MW of solar cells and modules. At the beginning of 2015, yet another business was launched – the manufacture of the latest generation of progressive optical eyeglass lenses. In spring 2014, the production company UAB BRD of the BOD Group signed a contract with one of the largest German manufacturers of optical devices, Schneider GmbH & Co. Kg, for the supply of the latest generation of equipment. In the beginning of 2015, near Vilnius, in Trakai district, Guopstai village, the company opened a new Free Form RX progressive spectacle lens manufacturing laboratory “BOD LENSES”. The new laboratory will be one of the largest and most modern in Europe. Its production capacity is 4000 progressive lenses daily. The company will produce single focal and bifocal lenses.


The BOD Group’s Free Form RX progressive lens laboratory BOD LENSES is one of the most modern in Europe. It is equipped with machinery from Schneider GmbH & Co Kg for the manufacture of the MODULO LINE individualized progressive spectacles, embodying the manufacturer’s vision to create Free Form lenses of the highest quality standards and maximally adapted to consumer needs. Every year, progressive lenses represent a growing part of the optical market. The exclusivity of the MODULO LINE is the fully digitized and automated manufacturing process controlled by the unique LMS MODULO system from inception to a final product. This is more than a conventional laboratory control system. A unique, sophisticated program informs the operator of the progress of each unit in the MODULO LINE, the quantity of required raw materials, and ensures the highest quality standards. The production capacity of MODULO LINE is 4000 digital lenses daily. The company is producing single vision,  progressive, antifatigue, office, and bifocal lenses.

Vytautas Tuminas

Chief Executive Officer

A professional, top-level executive with 15+ years of strong experience in business worldwide, and in particular, with strong project management skills. He has strategic, and operational competencies, along with sustainable leadership thinking. He specialises in the ophthalmic industry, including optical manufacturing, supply chain logistics, outsourcing, project management, and LEAN management. He has accumulated huge experience in EU structural funds programmes and strategic project design and evaluation in the business arena. He is oriented to, and has strong internal motivation in, change management, and the ability to use various LEAN and pragmatic project management methods. The skills he has developed skills include commercial strategies, negotiations, management of complexity, influencing people, and cultural differences, which he always employs to reach the ultimate goals of growth and profit. Graduated with an MBA in Finance and Banking at Vilnius University.

Tautvydas Monkeliūnas

Head of Sales Development

Experienced head of the sales department who has a demonstrable history of working in the medical device industry, along with skills in Business Planning, Customer Service, Sales, Strategic Planning, and Foreign Languages. Strong sales professional with a Master's degree focused on Social Studies from Mykolas Romeris University.

Monika Kandratavičienė

Project Manager

Highly experienced project manager, with responsibility for the Italian, Canadian and Lithuanian markets. She has worked in BOD Lenses from the very beginning of the company, and has always focused on creating strong partnerships all over the world. As technologies, products and fashion in the optical industry change with the speed of light, she always makes sure that she never stops learning. She lives and works by the rules of never giving up, not being afraid of taking a risk and the responsibility that goes with it, being honest, always being ready for a new challenge and never forgetting to really feel the satisfaction in what she does. Main responsibilities: Creation of annual sales plans, the formation of goals and the presentation of strategies for the implementation of sales plans, participation in negotiations, and preparation of cooperation agreements with new clients. She also carries out analysis of clients’ needs and expectations, while growing their trust in the company and making a circle of loyal customers.

Julius Babarikinas

Arūnas Abramavičius

Production Manager

Experienced production manager, who has more than 18 years’ experience in developing company long-term strategy, annual budgeting and execution control, creating and improving personnel motivation systems, analyzing and evaluating business (enterprise) acquisition. Arūnas has extensive experience in production, purchasing, IT and technology development management. He was one of the first people in Lithuania who used Goldratt's Theory of Constraints (TOC) in company management. He has developed and improved his knowledge by participating in various leadership, personnel management, negotiation and production management training, conferences and internships both in Lithuania and abroad. · Theoretical and practical training in performance improvement (Toyota Production Systems) · Kanban system and quality management at TOP Japanese companies (Toyota-Lexus, Omron, etc.) A strong base of production management skills acquired upon completion degree in financial management and business administration at the Kaunas University of Technology.

For 17 years, working in the fields of optics has gained a lot of experience. Starting with customer communication, ending with lens manufacturing quality management principles. The main topic – analytics. Continuous search for news and enhancements that will facilitate the understanding of both – lens manufacturing processes and end-user vision. Moto – no day without problem solving. The goal is to provide the highest quality product in the market. Special attention is paid to several areas: modern technologies, without which improvement is not possible in new world, and lens design features, the understanding and application of which is directly related to the wearer of spectacles.

Marketing specialist with considerable experience in advertising and marketing project management, takes care of “BOD lenses” brand publicity projects, coordinates the marketing tool development and production processes, and organizes conferences and internal events for the company. Working jointly with the sales team, she develops the strategies to introduce new products into the market and is responsible for the smooth delivery of marketing tools to customers. She is convinced that marketing is one of the most important parts of a successful business, and that a creative approach leads to great achievements.
